The Bragg’s Pie Factory, 1301 Grand Avenue, will once again be hosting the Mutant Pinata Show which will kick off the 22nd annual Art Detour Weekend. The weekend starts with the March 5th First Friday and continues through Saturday and Sunday. Pie Factory hours Saturday will be 10 am to 10 pm and Sunday noon to 6 pm. The visually cacophonous exhibit of wildly decorated, creatively fashioned pinatas will continue through April and will be viewable during the First and Third Friday celebrations in March and April.
Pinatas this year include those produced by local artists; Metro Arts High School students; Boys and Girls Clubs; ASU 3-D Design classes; and members of the community at large.
About Bragg’s Pie Factory:
Renovated in 2008, this 15,000 sq. ft. former pie factory was built by the local Bragg family in 1947 for their expanding bakery business. The cast-in-place concrete building is one of the few remaining examples of streamline modern architecture in the city of Phoenix. It is now on the National Register of Historic Places and houses an eclectic range of small businesses including a cafe, several art studios, a tattoo shop and temporary gallery space.
