Join us March 6 and 7 as Artlink’s highly anticipated annual event celebrates its 22nd year! From 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, March 6 and noon-5 p.m. Sunday, March 7, patrons have an opportunity to take a free, self-guided tour of numerous art galleries, venues and art-friendly business that comprise the neighborhoods of downtown Phoenix, Arizona. Reported to be the largest, most well attended art event of its kind in the country, Art Detour had its start as an artists’ open studio tour in the spring of 1989. This is the event that started it all! The artist’s studios are still a big part of Art Detour; many of the studios are only open to the public for this event. A free shuttle will run through the weekend, stopping at points along routes that encompass participants in the north, south, east and west neighborhoods of downtown. Shuttles originate at Phoenix Center for the Arts, but riders can hop on at any designated stop.

KIDS’ DETOUR!

This facet of the event is for our younger patrons to create art to take home, wear, give away or whatever their little hearts desire. Kids will visit a designated area of the Phoenix Center for the Arts to choose from a variety of art projects to participate in, as well as to enjoy story time with an author. To make the walk itself more fun for kids, a designated number of kid-friendly venues will stamp “passports” as they pass through, culminating in a gift bag for fully stamped passports. This year’s Kids’ Detour includes live, kid-friendly entertainment!
